For Better For Worse

Following the successes of Love Sex and Death and Opera Its One Big Party, in 2012 Opera Nova presents For Better For Worse (subtitled The Matrimonial Noose), an exploration of love and marriage as seen through the eyes of the great operatic composers.

Walk down the aisle with Wagner, celebrate with Czech peasants, eavesdrop on the domestic life of Figaro and Susanna. Experience the universal satisfaction when Don Giovanni gets his comeuppance, sigh softly as the Marschallin relinquishes her lover Octavian and rejoice with the ecstatic couples as all is sorted out in the Figaro household.

This semi-staged performance features excerpts from Beethoven's Fidelio, Mozart's Don Giovanni and The Marriage of Figaro and Smetana's The Bartered Bride among others.
