Opera Nova based in the Tees Valley in the North East of England performs opera music at a variety of venues throughout the region.
Due to ongoing restrictions related to the COVID-19 coronavirus, rehearsals have been suspended and the 2020 series of performances were cancelled, we hope that these events can be re-organised for future dates.
The latest current programme is a double bill of contrasting operas:
Gianni Schicci - a comic opera in one act by Giacomo Puccini composed in 1917–18, libretto translated into English by Amanda Holden, featuring the outrageous antics of the well-to-do Donati family when their relative Buoso dies suddenly and his last will and testament does not meet their expectations.
Samson and Delilah - a grand opera by Camille Saint-Saëns first performed in 1877, which tells the biblical tale of seduction and betrayal. Opera Nova present selected extracts from the work, featuring powerful choruses and dramatic solo singing by Samson and Delilah.

Opera Nova provides a forum for operatic soloists and chorus to develop their abilities and new members are always welcome.
Rehearsals are normally held Tuesday evenings at Holy Trinity with Saint Mark Church, Stockton-on-Tees - see map.
