Mary Coffield (Countess)

Mary is a lyric-soprano.  She first joined Opera Nova in 1982 to sing the leading role in Nino Rota’s ‘The Italian Straw Hat’ and has since sung leading operatic roles with both Nova, Durham County Opera and Independent Opera including Lucia di Lammermoor, La Traviata and Cosi fan tutte.  She has taken part in numerous Opera Nova concerts, and semi-staged opera performances and sang the role of Dido in a Barefoot Opera production of Dido and Aeneas at Ushaw College, Durham.  Mary also enjoys oratorio, recital and concert work and spends time each year organising popular concerts with fellow singers to raise funds for a range of local charities.
