Opera Nova raise £1750 for Butterwick Hospice

In spite of adverse weather conditions, Opera Nova went ahead with their annual summer garden party and concert in aid of Butterwick Hospice: an organisation which cares for patients with life limiting illnesses and their families. The plucky audience braved the awful weather, and made every effort to carry on with their picnics with the aid of umbrellas, gazebos and plenty of waterproofs. In between, and sometimes during the showers, Opera Nova performed popular favourite such as The Pearl Fishers Duet, The Letter Duet from Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro and the trio from Cosi Fan Tutte, as well as extended extracts from La Boheme and Carmen. The whole event was a great success, and we rounded it off with two rousing choruses, the Triumphal Chorus from Aida, and the Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves from Nabucco. It was well worth the effort because the concert raised £1750 for the Hospice.
